The Science of Getting Rich

by Robin J Emdon

“Getting rich is the result of doing things in a certain way” says Wallace D. Wattles in his timeless (and still in print) classic. ‘The Science of Getting Rich’.

Published over 100 years ago in 1910, only the very bravest of souls would dismiss this great work out of hand. This seminal work was the inspiration for Rhonda Byrne’s highly successful movie ‘The Secret’ and when I tell you that it has NEVER been out of print, hopefully you might sit up and smell the coffee!

This is a book, if you haven’t already, you NEED to read!

“There is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates and fills the interspaces of the Universe.

A thought in this substance produces the thing that is imaged by the thoughts.

I can form things in my thoughts, and by impressing my thoughts upon formless substance, can cause the thing I think about to be created.

In order to do this, I must pass from the competitive to the creative mind. I must form a clear mental picture of the things I want. And, I must hold this picture in my thoughts with the fixed purpose to get what I want, and the unwavering faith that I will get what I want – closing my mind to all that may tend to shake my purpose, dim my vision, or quench my faith.

I am ready to receive what I want when it comes, and I am acting now upon the people and things in my present environment.” Wallace D. Wattles

In other words, again as Wallace D. Wattles (isn’t that the coolest name everrrr or what?) those who come into possession of property and money and other needs and desires, do so because they follow a SCIENTIFIC process of doing things in a certain way. Those who do NOT come into money, property and other needs and desires, simply put, are NOT doing things in said certain way.

It is, according to Wattles, a natural law. As sure as that apple must FALL from that tree, because of Newton’s ‘law of gravity’, so too is the accumulation of wealth and your life’s desires.

Obey the law and it MUST happen, break the law, and wealth will elude you!

    • Thank you Janmarc,

I could not agree with you more. ‘Letting go’ is a HUGE part of the creative process and integral to Law of Attraction. A walk in ‘nature’ is an excellent example of how it can be done.

  • I agree Robin. When you have positive thoughts for instance, positive things happen and likewise negative thoughts. Believing in the science of wealth and abundance is the thing that breaks down boundaries and helps us to overcome the trials we have previously had to deal with.

    • Hey Barrie,

The incredible thing about this book that Wattles is saying, believe or don’t believe it… since it IS a science, it will still work! So yes, absolutely… keep your focus clearly on the things you DO want! For if you follow the scientific process he outlines, things WILL happen!

  • Paudie Callaghan

Great post Robin, The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D.Wattles is one of my favourite books. It’s straightforward and easy to understand. I love it when it says, No matter what our circumstances we have the ability to obtain wealth to live as we desire and fulfill our purpose in life. Anyone who learns to do things in a certain way will ultimately become prosperous.

    • Hey Paudie!

Absolutely right Paudie… it’s a completely level playing field. ANYONE can follow the principles in Wattles book and see results!

    Hello Robin,

    yes very interesting….

even authors from long ago can advize and direct us in decisions we make for our own future now….

    🙂

    • Hey Lisa,

Yes very true. Just because it was written a 100 years ago and the language is a tad antiquated for modern tastes, it most certainly should not diminish the power of the message.

  • Margarita

    Hi Robin,

The conclusion is that we have to learn to connect to the source.

We have to learn to think in terms of our purpose, aka end goals, instead of the means to achieve those goals. Skip the in-between steps.

We shall always ask about What and Why? Never ask How and When! We are to learn to be visionaries, not realists!!! Start channeling the information and the answer comes to you!

    • Hey Margarita!

Ah yes… that old chestnut called ‘realism’ – It has been the cause of many a good person giving up on their dreams – when if only they had just appreciated for a moment that ‘reality’ is what you make it, NOT what ‘others’ tell you must be so…. then perhaps they would have embraced the ‘Science’ of getting rich and seen some amazing results!
